Swatches and Review: NYX Simply Vamp Collection Lip Cream

Hello beautiful! Sorry for the long wait through summer, it has been crazy!  Between getting back from being in Argentina to diving straight into full time work and school starting up again, I can barely keep up with life.  But I'm back! And with swatches and a review on the new NYX Simply Vamp Collection Lip Creams.  NYX released their Simply Collection around a month ago, with 4 color themes: Simply Nude, Simply Red, Simply Pink, and our swatches/reviews today, Simply Vamp.  There are a total of six lip creams in each collection, and we will be looking at four of them from the Vamp collection.

I decided to pick up the lip creams in Covet, Enamored, Temptress, and She Devil.  Missing is Aphrodisiac and Bewitching, two of which I thought I had similar colors at home.  On the NYX website these Lip Creams are described to "vamp up your look instantly with our smooth and smoldering lip creams. Wear any of these six bewitching shades to brew up a little beauty magic".

These lip creams had been on the NYX website as soon as they were released, but did not arrive at Ulta stores until two to three weeks ago.  I called several stores, with most of them talking to my like I'm crazy for asking about these, and only one sales associate who knew exactly what they were.  After finally finding them I hurried to take swatches:

When swatched on to my arms, Bewitching (described as burgundy with blue undertone) reminded me very much of Hunk ( a Blue violet) from the NYX Butter Lipsticks with less shine, which is a berry color, and Aphrodisiac (Light brown plum) reminded me of Hunk (deep Burgundy) from the same collection.

Here are the swatches of Covet, Enamored, Temptress, and She Devil worn over bare lips with no primer:

For the most part, NYX did a pretty good job giving the color description. Temptress leans more red than purple, which is what I think of when plum is used as a description.

Longevity: I took both She Devil and Enamored on long days to see how the color and formula would survive. Temptress is SUCH a solid, true purple, I just fell so hard for it.  Here it is at the beginning of the morning:

However, it sits pretty heavy on my lips and started clinging on to dry parts of my lips after a few hours like this:

She Devil after 3-4 hours (ugh this is rough)
I can't even really look at that picture for long because it looks really really unpleasant.  However it only looked like that if you got THISCLOSE to my face, otherwise it was still pretty solid.  It didn't require touch ups and the color stayed pretty true.

Enamored was a DREAM to wear. I really enjoyed wearing it all day.  Here it is first applied:

My favorite thing about this color is that it looks different in different lights.  In this particular picture it looked purple leaning, but in other lights it was a much heavier brown than shown here.  I just really loved everything about it. Unfortunately I didn't take an "after" picture, but after wearing it ALL day (11AM-11PM), I only reapplied once which I didn't really need to, and the color pretty much stayed like this without settling into my lip lines or clumping up.  It was beautiful I almost cried.

Color wise these lip creams last a while, but as you saw with these two, the lasting power/results differ.

These lip creams weren't very drying but they weren't moisturizing in itself.

The colors are very opaque and has a beautiful metallic property.  I'm more of a matte lips lady myself but I definitely enjoyed the metallic "pearl"-y-ness of these lip creams.

The Simply Vamp Collection Lip Creams are so perfect for Fall and Winter, and even Spring and Summer because of their subtle shimmer.  You can find them on NYX's website and in store at your local Ulta Store.  They are priced at $6.50 each and they are often on sale at Ulta.  Happy vampy lips!

Xoxo- Lily
